OMS School-Wide National Geographic Bee

Will Price, 8th Grader at Ontario Middle School, won the school-wide National Geographic Bee on Dec. 10, 2008.  Schools through out the country participate in the National Geographic Bee using materials prepared by the National Geographic Society. According to National Geographic, "The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography."

Price and first runner up Jackie Harden were fierce competitors.  Price finally won, in a tie breaker, by correctly naming Budapest as Hungary's largest city. Price will now take a written test from National Geographic to determine whether he qualifies for the state competition in April.  The national champion each year wins a $25,000 college scholarship.
