Spirit of St. Patrick's Day

The fourth grade class of Anette Carroll and the fifth grade class of Kelsey Zimmerman got into the spirit of St. Patrick's Day by making Leprechaun Traps. The activity connected science and math with reading and writing as students took on the roles of architect and engineer in designing traps based on stories they had read about leprechauns. The assignment was to gather scrap materials, design the trap, build the trap, and then explain how the trap works. Some students used shiny objects or signage to lure the little Irish elves.

Students also wrote poems about the March 17 holiday.
