Visit Oregon Trail Interpretive Center

May Roberts students recently toured the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center in Baker City, Ore. For teachers, the most exciting thing about the trip is that it follows the state curriculum for fourth grade so well! For students, the venture is exciting for a much different reason:Students tried their hand at the interactive Oregon Trail Map, answering questions. "Pioneer women" helped May Roberts visitors learn how to wear the heavy wool cape and hats, and the girls and boys got to pose in front of a pioneer wagon to see how really large this mode of travel was! Students also enjoyed the Newfoundland dog on exhibit. This breed of dog came with Lewis and Clark on the first exhibition.

The fourth graders have been studying about the Oregon pioneers and Native Americans, so the trip to the Interpretive Center brought the books to life.
