Book Review

A girl named Karana who is stranded on a island for eighteen years. In finding out how to survive she has to kill wild dogs and make her own weapons.  This girl goes through lots of different stages where she does and doesn't know what to do.

One really good part is when Karana decided to let Rontu stay with her and be her pet.  But you have to read it yourself to find out what happened to Karana and Rontu at the end.

"I did not know how lonely I had been until I had Rontu to talk to."  I quoted this sentence because Karana had been really lonely before she had Rontu as a friend.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read, because this probably goes for all books but if you don't like to read then don't waste your time. And because you should really think about Karana and compare her to your own life. (example: would you want to be stranded on an island for eighteen years? I know I would not.)

This reminds me of my own life because I used to have a dog named Katie and we spent alot of time together and when she died in a way I felt lost for awhile.

It also reminds me of a book entitled,  The War with Grandpa because Karana thought that all the wild dogs were a problem untill she got to know them a little better. In The War with Grandpa, Peter didn't like his Grandpa until he got to know him and found out that he didn't mean to take his room.

This book is one of the most exiting, saddest, and happiest books I've ever read!
