Aiken Alligator chosen to represent Oregon

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Contest held, Hobbs wins

Aiken third grader, Madison Hobbs won the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Facebook Contest and is now headed to the Children's Congress in Washington D.C. in June 2011.

Juvenile Diabetes patients from around the country will gather to tell their stories to law makers.  The state delegates are typically chosen through a lengthy application process.  But JDRF decided to hold a drawing via Facebook to let one lucky kid to go straight to D.C.  Madison's name was drawn September 30, 2010.

"We were shocked and so excited for her," said Brian Hobbs, Madison's dad and Art teacher at Ontario Middle School.
