FFA Shop Skills Contest

Ontario's FFA students do well at Shop Skills Contest

Ontario High School FFA teams walked away with first and second place awards following the Oregon Snake River District FFA Shop Skills Contest held April 17, at Treasure Valley Community College.

Beginning and Advanced teams from Ontario, Vale, Nyssa, and Crane met in competition to test their skills in a variety of areas: surveying, electricity, blueprint reading, carpentry, tool identification, tool reconditioning, gas cutting, arc welding, and wirefeed welding.

Ontario's advanced team members Kelby Nelson, Steve Ulhman, and Adam Tschida took first. Ulhman, also received a two-year tuition waiver scholarship from TVCC for being the top senior. Beginning team members Matt Ulhman, Matt Sesker, and Rogelio Sanchez placed second.

"All of my teams did an excellent job," said advisor Roger Watkins. "I'm really proud of them."
