St. Patrick's Day is celebrated

Karyn Gray's first grade class at Alameda celebrated St. Patrick's Day with a variety of artwork. Mrs. Gray's classroom was visited by some leprechauns from the Emerald Isle as well during the third week of March!

"We had a leprechaun in our classroom all right!" Mrs. Gray said, "But he escaped before we could share him with the children. He did leave evidence of his presence each day, however - gold dust, surprises, little messes, etc."

Although the leprechaun returned to Ireland before the class had a chance to catch him, students had fun learning all the traditions of St. Paddy's day. Students made leprechaun heads from construction paper using scissors and glue. The little potato men were made with the same things. The paintings were done with tempera paints.
