An Old-Fashioned Carnival

Pioneer Elementary once again held its outdoor school carnival.  The attendees enjoyed horseback rides, a rock wall, the football throw, milk bottle knockdown, a golf ball throw, the target shoot, a live auction, face painting, the petting zoo, a sea shell hunt, seven eleven, and a cake walk.  The weather was perfect and a large crowd came out in support of the school's main fund raiser.

"The carnival made around $6,000,"  said Parent Involvement Coordinator, Kristina Saldivar.  "Part of the money earned from this years carnival will be used to purchase PE equipment, six more trees for our playground and it will also pay for our upcoming good behavior reward activity, which is a swimming party at the aquatic center," she explained.  Saldivar noted that the horse back rides and tours of emergency vehicles were new activities that the students really found fun.

Pioneer Elementary wants to give special thanks to:

  • The Cybercats semi-pro football team who volunteered to help run several of the games
  • The BLM and Smokey the Bear for bringing out a fire truck
  • The ambulance for bringing out a emergency vehicle to tour
  • Don Lewis for all his help with the games and for bring out a horse for the kids to ride
  • As always, the local businesses and parents who donated items for the live auction
