Special Education

Dear Parents of Students Experiencing Disabilities,

On the OSD website you will find links to printable and digital resources that you may use with your child.  This is in addition to the content/grade level resources on the district home learning website.

You are encouraged to use any of the grade level resources the district has provided, and are encouraged to use any level of material or activity that is right for your student.  If you are unsure which level is appropriate, feel free to try a few different things, or take a look at your student’s most recent IEP for present levels of performance.  For example, if you have a 4th grade student who is working at grade level in math and science, but below grade level in reading, you can choose a lower level when you access reading content.

If you need help navigating which activities might be appropriate for your child, regardless of their current skill level, feel free to email your child's casemanager.

Things you can do to support yourself
  • Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media. Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting.
  • Take care of your body. Take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate. Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, and get plenty of sleep.
  • Make time to unwind. Try to do some other activities you enjoy.
  • Connect with others. Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling. Call family members, friends, teachers, etc.
  • Journaling and writing are great ways to express feelings and thoughts and connect with yourself.
  • Go for a walk, run, take your dog for a walk. Getting outside to breath fresh air and get a change of scenery.
