September 17, 2005 was the 218th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution. In 2004, Congress passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act which directs that schools must provide lessons on the U.S. Constitution each year around September 17th. Alameda teacher/librarian Melissa Schuler is doing a little time travel to Colonial America to accomplish just that. In costume and character, she is providing students with interesting facts about the U.S. Constitution during their library classes.
