Ontario Welcomes Josh Mink as Athletic Director

Ontario High School welcomes Josh Mink as the new Athletic Director beginning the 2019-20 school year.  Mr. Mink is currently a school counselor in Wyoming and has his administrative license.  He is also a basketball and track coach and has served as Athletic Director in both the public school setting and Boys and Girls Club in the Portland Metro area.  He has a close connection to Oregon where he graduated from high school.  Mr. Mink went on to Portland State, EOU, Chemeketa, and Lewis & Clark College to obtain the majority of his training for his career in education, and also taught English in both Japan and Korea.
 
 
In his role as counselor, he has gained extensive experience working with students of all socioeconomic levels and abilities, finding ways to meet their needs.  He trains teachers in programs such as Restorative Justice and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and is known for his communication and organization skills.  Those who work with Mr. Mink describe him as a “pillar of their school and focused on the well-being of students; he places a lot of importance on the academics for athletes as well as the goal of improved athletic performance, knows how to support coaches, and understands what it takes to grow a program in collaboration with students, teachers, athletes, parents, and the community”.  He expressed a thorough understanding of the job responsibilities and was able to speak to experience in all aspects of the position.  Mr. Mink says he looks forward to joining the OHS team and supporting Tiger Nation.
