Self-portraits are a time honored genre in drawing and painting. These self-portraits were done by looking in mirrors, not at a photograph. This is not only more difficult to do, but it also results in an intense, pensive gaze.

Drawing I students drew themselves on the first day of class without any instruction or directions: the BEFORE. At the end of the semester they drew themselves again. They were amazed at how much they had learned throughout the semester when they compared the BEFORE and AFTER.
